Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@eaqaz.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The Educational Association for Quality Assurance in Zambia(EAQAZ) is the premier professional body for quality assurance practitioners across the entire education value chain—from early childhood education to university, and from TVET to industry. We do not replace regulators but complement them by building a collaborative ecosystem for professional development, peer learning, policy advocacy, and the sharing of best practices to advance excellence in Zambian education.

EAQAZ offers inclusive membership categories:

  1. Individual: Practitioners/Professionals (New: K650, Renewal: K500) and Students (New: K130, Renewal: K100).
  2. Institutional: Universities (K19,500/K15,000), University Colleges (K13,000/K10,000), Colleges (K6,500/K5,000), Private Schools (K2,600/K2,000), and others.
  3. RegulatoryBodies: Direct Regulators (K13,000/K10,000) and Professional Associations (K19,500/K15,000).
  4. (Categories also include Full, Associate, Student, and Honorary Members as per the constitution).

Members enjoy:

  1. Professional Growth: Continuous Professional Development (CPD), training, and networking opportunities.
  2. Institutions benefit as EAQAZ provides a marketing platform for its members including being part of education fairs within and outside Zambia.
  3. Influence: Voting rights (for Full Members), participation in technical committees, and a voice in national policy dialogues.
  4. Exclusive Access: Discounts on international conferences, priority access to the EAQAZ job portal, and a digital membership badge.
  5. Resources: Shared best practices, sector-specific guidelines, and a strong professional community.

EAQAZ acts as a strategic partner to regulators like the Ministry of Education, HEA, and TEVETA. We serve as a "quality innovation lab," developing practitioner-informed frameworks and undertaking enhancement-focused activities that relieve the operational burden on regulators, allowing them to focus on their core statutory functions. We work closely with all educational institutions to build their internal quality capacity.

EAQAZ is uniquely focused on the practitioner of quality assurance across all sectors and levels. We are not a trade union or a regulatory body. We are a cross-sectoral professional home that breaks down silos, uniting everyone from school inspectors to university QA officers and industry trainers under a common goal: to professionalize and empower the people who build and sustain quality in education.

EAQAZ was officially registered on15th October 2025, marking a transformative leap forward for Zambia's education ecosystem.

Yes. A core function of EAQAZ is to provide Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for our members. This includes conferences, workshops, seminars, and specialized training on emerging challenges. We also facilitate member training through our consultancy services arm.

  1.   A major membership drive across the education sector.
  2. Planning the Zambia Education Fair in Lubumbashi, DRC and Zimbabwe  to recruit students for member institutions and showcase Zambian education.
  3. Active policy advocacy, as seen in our support for the 2026 education budget and the legislation of free education.
  4. Establishing technical committees to develop sector-specific quality guidelines.

EAQAZ is funded through a sustainable model that includes membership subscriptions, a percentage of income from negotiated consultancy services (10%), and other initiatives as approved by the Executive Committee. Further, EAQAZ also receives financial support from local and international cooperating partners. Our financial operations are governed by robust Financial Regulations and audited by independent professionals.

No, EAQAZ does not replace the official accreditation mandate of regulators like the HEA. However, we provide vital support services such as peer reviews, pre-accreditation assessments, and voluntary institutional audits. These services help institutions prepare for and meet national and international standards, effectively acting as a "quality readiness" partner before formal regulatory inspection.

Absolutely. A key strategic goal is international affiliation. EAQAZ is constitutionally poised to join global networks like the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) and already aligns with continental bodies like the African Quality Assurance Network (AfriQAN). This boosts the international credibility of Zambian qualifications and gives our members access to global best practices.

Membership in EAQAZ is for a lifetime; however, it is maintained through the annual renewal of your membership subscription. This ensures continuous access to all member benefits and supports the association’s ongoing activities.

No. There is absolutely no conflict. EAQAZ is the professional home for the very individuals working within these institutions who are entrusted with managing education quality. By joining EAQAZ, these practitioners gain access to robust Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and a peer network specifically designed to enhance their skills. Professionals from regulatory bodies, government departments, and other professional associations are not only eligible to join as members but are also encouraged to participate in the leadership of EAQAZ to strengthen the national quality framework collectively.

Not at all. EAQAZ is established to be a strategic partner and complement the government’s efforts to provide accessible, quality education. We view the Ministry of Education and statutory bodies like HEA, TEVETA, and ZAQA as our core partners. Furthermore, we collaborate with professional bodies (e.g., EIZ, TCZ, ZIPS, LAZ, NMCZ) to enhance the overall quality of teaching and training across the Zambian education sector. Our role is to support and capacitate, not to challenge.

EAQAZ is committed to professionalizing the field of quality assurance for the long term. We actively encourage students in Education Management, Quality Assurance, and related fields to join. This provides them with early exposure to industry best practices, networking opportunities with established professionals, and a head start in building their careers, ensuring a strong pipeline of future leaders for the sector.

Payment of your annual membership fee grants you access to a wide range of member benefits, including participation in our CPD activities at significantly discounted rates. Paid-up members also receive priority access to events, exclusive resources, and other special treatments designed to build their professional capacity, making membership a valuable investment in your career growth.

Teachers and lecturers are on the front lines of delivering quality education every day. They are welcome to join EAQAZ as Associate Members to benefit from our specially curated Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities. Our training is designed to complement the CPD provided by the Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ) or the Ministry of Education, not replace it. By enriching their skills with our benchmarked materials focused on quality assurance processes, we empower educators to become even more effective architects of learning outcomes, thereby accelerating the rise of Zambia’s education standards. This same invitation extends to instructors in TEVET institutions.

EAQAZ will host the annual Education Quality Awards to celebrate and motivate excellence across the sector. These awards are designed to recognize the outstanding efforts of individuals, institutions, and stakeholders in enhancing education quality and to embed a culture of excellence in service delivery. Each year, EAQAZ will publicly announce the award categories, eligibility criteria, and the nomination process. We encourage all members and institutions to watch our official channels for these announcements.
